Add groceries to your list by voice
In Plenty you tap the Voice button in the search field and say what you need, for example “two litres of milk, bread, bananas”. Each item Plenty recognises appears as a card with its quantity, so you can check what it heard before adding. Siri can also add an item or read your list out.

How does dictation work in Plenty?
- Open a list and tap + or the search field to open Add items.
- Tap Voice, the sound-wave button in the search field. Plenty starts listening straight away; the first time, iOS asks for access to the microphone and speech recognition.
- Speak your items. A short pause between items helps Plenty separate them. Quantities and units, such as “2 kg potatoes”, are recognised.
- Check the cards. Tap a card to leave it out, then add the rest to the list.
Voice adding works in the 11 languages Plenty supports: English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. By default it follows your iPhone's language, and you can pick another one in the voice sheet, useful in a bilingual household.
What can you say to Siri?
Plenty adds its own phrases to Siri and the Shortcuts app, with no setup. Say “Siri” or “Hey Siri”, then:
- “Add an item to Plenty” or “Add something to Plenty”. Siri asks which item and puts it on your list.
- “What's on my Plenty list” or “Read my Plenty list”. Siri reads out what is still to buy.
On iOS 18 or later you can also put an Add items control in Control Center, which opens Plenty straight into the add screen.
What voice adding does not do
How cleanly one long sentence is split into separate items depends on your iPhone and iOS version. Cards cannot be edited in the voice sheet: if two items end up on one card, tap it to leave it out and say them again with a pause, or edit the item on the list afterwards. Plenty only listens while the voice sheet is open.
Questions
Does voice adding work in Dutch or German?
Yes. Voice adding supports all 11 app languages, including Dutch, German, French and Italian, and Siri phrases exist in each of those languages.
Which list does Siri add to?
Siri adds to your first active list. To add to a particular list, use Plenty's add action in the Shortcuts app, where you can choose the list.
