A shared grocery list for the whole household

Plenty keeps the grocery lists of everyone in your home in one household. You invite people with an eight-character code or a link that you send by WhatsApp, Messages or Mail. Once they join, every item someone adds or ticks off appears on the other phones straight away, and Plenty can notify the others.

How do you invite someone to your list?

  1. Open Settings, then Household. If you have no household yet, tap Create household; you become its owner.
  2. Tap Invite to household. Plenty creates an eight-character code and a link. Tap Share invitation to send the link by WhatsApp, Messages or Mail, or tap Copy code.
  3. The other person installs Plenty, signs in with Apple or Google and taps the link, or opens Settings, chooses Join a list with a code and types the code.

An invitation stays valid for seven days and can be used 25 times, so one message in the family group chat is enough. To cancel invitations you already sent, the owner taps Replace existing invitations on the same screen.

What does the household share?

More than the list. In Plenty's own words, the household shares “all lists, loyalty cards, budgets, purchases and receipts”. The monthly budget, the store order and the saved loyalty cards are the same for every member, so whoever does the shopping this week has the right card and the right order.

How fast do changes show up?

Changes sync live while phones are online. When someone adds or ticks off items, the others can get a notification that says who changed what, or a summary when several items changed at once. Each person chooses whether to allow notifications when Plenty asks.

What sharing does not do

Everyone who joins needs an iPhone or iPad with Plenty and a Plenty account; Plenty always asks you to sign in with Apple or Google. There is no Android app and no web version, so a household member without an Apple device cannot join.

Questions

What if an invitation has expired?

Invitations last seven days. The owner opens Household in Settings and taps Invite to household again for a new code and link.

Can someone leave the household?

Yes. A member can leave from the Household screen. The owner first transfers ownership to another member before leaving.
